Since becoming the head of OSI Group, Lavin has transformed the company from a small startup into a respected supplier of food products. The company supplies its products to foodservice and retail brands. Additionally, OSI Group has expanded its operations through its subsidiaries, which are OSI Industries, LLC, OSI International Foods, LLC, and OSI International, Inc. All the OSI Group’s international investments are managed by OSI International, Inc.
Sheldon’s success in the industry started in 1970 when he secured financing for Otto & Sons, which was later renamed to OSI Group Industries, LLC. Under Lavin’s visionary leadership, the company established a meat processing facility to enable it to become the main supplier of hamburgers to McDonald’s Corporation in the Midwest. Because the corporation needed adequate capital to achieve this objective, Sheldon was asked by the bank to take up an ownership position in the firm. Initially, he declined because it was not in line with what he focused on in his practice. However, he eventually agreed to serve as a consultant. He also agreed with Otto’s family that if he ever joined the firm as a partner, he would have equal shareholding.
From 1995, he started becoming more involved with the firm’s operations. He started venturing into international investments. In subsequent years, the firm has grown with McDonald’s.
